Manchester City could miss out on Brazilian defensive target Éder Militão with news from Italy today that Serie A club Lazio are moving quickly to secure the 20-year-old.
São Paulo defender Militão has been repeatedly linked with City for some time now, with the latest reports from Brazil claiming that the Premier League champions are willing to invest €10million, despite his contract being up in January.
However, the esteemed Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Italia reports today that Lazio are looking to beat City and FC Porto to Militão, who they see as a replacement for Inter-bound Stefan de Vrij.
Militão’s skill and versatility, which makes him able to play as a centre-back, right-back and holding midfielder, has led to him attracting interest across Europe, with City’s plan more than likely to be to loan him out if they win the race for him.
The Blues will have to move fast though, with Di Marzio stating that Lazio ‘want to quickly close the deal’ as they plan for next season after disappointingly missing out on Champions League football yesterday.
