Joao Santos, the Brazilian agent of Manchester City target Jorginho, is not shy about speaking to the press. And today the Napoli star’s representative has spoken again about the prospect of his client joining Pep Guardiola’s Premier League winners.
Speaking to Radio CRC during Raffaele Auriemma’s Si Gonfia la Rete, Santos provided an update on the Jorginho situation.
“Being coached by Mandorlini, Benitez, Conte and Sarri in recent years has helped Jorginho grow a lot,” said Santos. “Will Guardiola be next? Let’s see. He is an extraordinary coach and there is a real chance Jorginho could go to Manchester City.
“I have not received official offers, but I can’t know if Napoli have received them or not. On May 30 or 31 I will be in Naples to meet with the club, then on the first of June I will be in Nice to watch Jorginho play for Italy.”
Santos also pointed out that Jorginho, who has reportedly made a verbal agreement to join City if the clubs can agree terms, is still under contract to Napoli.
“The lad still has two years on his contract with Napoli and the last word will always be with the club.
“Only De Laurentiis, who is always attentive to budgets and business, will decide whether or not to accept an offer for Jorginho.
“If he does not want to sell, we will begin negotiations over a possible contract extension.”
