Manchester City are looking to sign one of Croatia’s most highly-rated young footballers, 20-year-old Lovro Majer, Mike McGrath reports in The Sun on Sunday.
Majer is an attacking midfielder who plays his club football for NK Lokomotiva and won his first cap for the Croatian national team last year against Mexico.
The youngster, who has also been tracked by Scottish champions Celtic, has stood out in two seasons of top-flight football in his homeland, and is tipped to be one of the next great exports from Croatia.
City reportedly want to sign him and will then weigh up whether to integrate him into Pep Guardiola’s first team squad or loan him out for experience, with Girona FC and NAC Breda two partner clubs who could be options.
Majer has made 30 appearances in Croatia’s 1. HNL this season, scoring 11 goals and assisting 5 for his teammates in his advanced midfield role.
