Premier League winners Manchester City will play Chelsea in the 2018 Community Shield after Chelsea were victorious against Manchester United in today’s FA Cup final at Wembley.
The annual clash of England’s two major trophy holders will take place on Sunday, 5 August in a repeat of the 2012 Community Shield which saw City beat Chelsea 3-2 at Villa Park.
Both clubs have won the Community Shield four times, with City’s coming in 1937, 1968, 1972, 2012 and Chelsea’s in 1955, 2000, 2005, 2009.
Despite his achievement today, Antonio Conte is tipped to leave Chelsea in the summer, meaning Pep Guardiola is likely to face a brand new coach in the Chelsea hot-seat.
