Manchester City are making moves to sign Netherlands under-21 international winger Arnaut Groeneveld from NEC Nijmegen, BN DeStem reports.
The deal, should it go through, has all the hallmarks of a City Football Group transaction, with the likelihood being that City would loan him to CFG partner club NAC Breda to strengthen them ahead of their second year in the Eredivisie.
Nigeria-born Groeneveld, 21, has scored an impressive 11 goals and registered 17 assists in the second division of Dutch football this season, leading to him getting a call-up for Holland at U-21 level.
His form has alerted clubs, with NEC director Remco Oversier confirming that the ‘City Group’ are one of those interested and see him as a potentially sound investment.
If City get a deal over the line for the former PSV Eindhoven youth product, he could join Luke Ilić and several other City talents set to be loaned to NAC Breda next season.
