Manchester City are offering Andres Iniesta the chance to continue his career in the Premier League as a player-coach, Yahoo! Sports reports.
Iniesta, 34, had been expected to join the wealthy Chinese Super League but a deal fell through, and he is now considering other offers from around the world. His plan has been to play outside Europe to avoid the risk of facing his beloved Barcelona at any point.
However, he is said to be keen on an offer made by his former boss Pep Guardiola to join the Premier League champions’ coaching staff, where he’d replace Arsenal-bound Mikel Arteta, while continuing as a player.
According to Yahoo! Sports, City officials are in talks with the Barcelona legend and he is seriously considering their proposal.
Iniesta would bring a wealth of experience to City having won eight La Liga titles and four Champions Leagues. The likes of Phil Foden would undoubtedly benefit from training with such a legend, who must now decide whether to reunite with Guardiola or continue his career outside of Europe.
