Sergio Aguero is continuing his recovery from knee surgery with the Argentina national team and is expected to be fit for this summer’s World Cup in Russia after missing the last part of the season with Manchester City.
The City icon is very close to a full return now and has been on the training pitch with La Albiceleste as they look to win their first World Cup since 1986, where Maradonna scored both the “Hand of God” and “Goal of the Century” against England.
Aguero has been speaking to TyC Sports about a number of topics, the most interesting one being Lionel Messi. 29-year-old Kun was asked if there is still any chance of he and his best friend playing together at club level.
“I believe it’s impossible,” Sergio responded bluntly. “There were possibilities before, but we’re at an age where Leo is going to stay at Barcelona and I will stay at City, for now.”
Messi seriously considered joining Manchester City on several occasions and a documentary last year revealed that he wanted to quit Barcelona to join Pep Guardiola in Manchester before being convinced to remain at Camp Nou.
Returning to the subject of his knee, El Kun also said his surgery has cleared up problems that have existed for half a decade. The procedure was done by the famed Ramon Cugat, Pep Guardiola’s most trusted doctor in Barcelona.
“After five years my knee feels like new,” he said. “I always had problems in that area and now I feel different, today I can flex it and it’s a great relief.
“Since 2013 I’d been suffering with my knee and if I hadn’t had the operation, I could have missed the World Cup.”
