Ederson signs new contract extending his Manchester City stay until 2025

Manchester City have handed goalkeeper Ederson a new contract just one year into his original five-year deal, meaning the 23-year-old will spend at least eight years at the Etihad Stadium.

The former Benfica stopper, who won his first cap for Brazil in a 3–0 win over Chile last October, has been a revelation since his £34million switch, proving himself to be a perfect goalkeeper for the style of play Pep Guardiola has implemented at City.

And he has been rewarded with several more years added on to his contract, prolonging his stay with the Premier League champions until 2025 when he will be 31 – almost 32.

Only David de Gea conceded fewer goals than Ederson in this season’s Premier League campaign, while Ederson’s 85.5% pass accuracy was better than many outfield players in the league.
