Manchester City are closing in on a £50million deal for Crystal Palace winger Wilfried Zaha, the Premier League’s April Player of the Month, John Richardson of the Mirror reports.
Zaha, 25, has enjoyed a fantastic season at Selhurst Park, scoring 8 goals and contributing 3 assists in 27 starts and helping the Eagles turn their season around under Roy Hodgson.
And his form has led to Pep Guardiola favouring a move for him over Leicester City star Riyad Mahrez, the Mirror claims, with City set to move for the Ivory Coast international.
City still retain an interest in Mahrez, it iis reported, but Zaha, who would be considered a homegrown player under Premier League rules, has moved to the top of his attacking wish-list.
In January 2013, Manchester United signed Zaha from Palace for £15million, but an unhappy spell at Old Trafford led to a £3million return to Palace some time later.
Now older and more experienced, Zaha has been one of the standout performers in the Premier League of late, which led to him collecting April’s Player of the Month award.
