Manchester City could soon add another Belgian to their ranks with Lierse SK starlet Othman Boussaid poised to move to the Etihad Stadium, Het Laatste Nieuws reports.
Boussaid, 18, is an diminutive attacking midfielder, standing just 5’4″ (166m) tall, and is a youth international, having appeared for Belgium at under-17 and under-18 level in the past 14 months.
Cash-strapped Lierse are set to go into administration, meaning all of their players will be released from their contracts soon. For Boussaid, this may not be a bad thing, with no shortage of interest in him.
HLN reveals that top Belgian clubs want to sign him, but concrete interest from Manchester City has turned his head and he prefers a move to the Premier League champions, who have some of the best academy facilities in the world with their state-of-the-art CFA.
Born on 7 March 2000, Boussaid is also eligible to play for Morocco. He has already made appearances for the Lierse first team and scored in their 2-2 draw against Oud-Heverlee Leuven last August.
