Yaya Touré is willing to accept a 12-month contract AND pay back half of his wages if he doesn’t convince his next club in order to secure a stay in England’s Premier League, his agent has revealed.
“Yaya is fit and desperate to prove he’s still the best central midfielder in the Premier League,” Touré’s agent Dimitri Seluk told Sky Sports News on Tuesday.
“Ivory Coast will not be in Russia for the World Cup and next season he will be fit, rested and stronger than ever.
“He’s happy to accept a one-year deal to stay in England. And if his club are not satisfied with his performances, he will pay back half his wages, or the club can cancel his contract immediately, with no compensation.”
Touré, 35 on Sunday, is hopeful of staying in the Premier League and has previously rejected interest from wealthy clubs in China to continue playing in England.
Everton and Huddersfield are rumoured to be interested in Touré, while other top-flight clubs are sure to step forward and make offers to the iconic midfielder.
The Ivorian will wear the captain’s armband on Wednesday night and make his final appearance for City at the Etihad Stadium as the Champions host Brighton.
