Napoli midfielder Jorginho continues to be heavily linked with a move to Manchester City this summer after reports that he is now Pep Guardiola’s number one target for the ‘6’ position currently dominated by Fernandinho.
Jorginho, 26, was in tears after Napoli’s 1-1 draw with Torino all but ended their hopes of winning the Scudetto, putting Juventus in the clear to win Serie A yet again.
With coach Maurizio Sarri linked with the Chelsea post, it could be a summer of change in Naples, and Jorginho is one of the players who may not be plying his trade at the Stadio San Paolo next season.
His agent, Joao Santos, spoke to CalcioNapoli24 and admitted there is strong interest from England – and not just City – but any reports of a deal being struck are premature.
“A Manchester City bid for Jorginho? Everyone knows that there are four or five clubs that want Jorginho in the Premier League.
“Napoli have never talked about anything and I’ve never talked to other teams officially. I’m waiting for Napoli to define his future.
“Jorginho still has two years on his contract, and if Napoli want to sell him, he’ll have to find an agreement with another team and then he’ll have to talk to us about it.”
The Italy international has made 31 appearances for Napoli in Serie A this season, scoring twice and chipping in with four assists from his deep-lying midfield role.
