Manchester City are in advanced talks to sign Italy midfielder Jorginho from Napoli, well-informed Spanish journalist Jose Alvarez reports.
Jorginho’s agent, Joao Santos, was last week in Manchester to negotiate a deal with sporting director Txiki Begiristain and the outcome was successful. A deal is said to be on the verge of completion.

The Brazilian-born Italy international has emerged as one of Europe’s most talented central midfielders this season, playing a key role in Napoli’s push to rival Juventus to the Serie A title.
In total, Jorginho has made 33 appearances for Maurizio Sarri’s side, with a pass accuracy of over 89%. His ability to both defend and dictate the play with his cultured passing has caught the eye of major clubs, with both Manchester City and Manchester United linked in several weeks.
And if Jose Alvarez, who has been spot on with most of his City news, is correct in reporting Jorginho is close to agreeing a move to the Champions, then Pep Guardiola is working quickly to reinforce his squad ahead of next season’s title defence.
