Napoli midfielder Jorginho favours a move to Premier League champions Manchester City over neighbours Manchester United, according to Martin Blackburn of The Sun.
Jorginho’s agent visited Manchester last month when his client represented Italy against Argentina at the Etihad Stadium, with reports claiming that he held talks with both Mancunian giants.
City want a midfielder this summer with Yaya Touré leaving when his contract expires in June and Fernandinho getting no younger, with Jorginho mentioned along with the likes of Thiago Alcântara, Julian Weigl and Fred.
With such potential options, there is no guarantee Jorginho tops Pep Guardiola’s shortlist, but he is said to prefer a move to free-flowing Manchester City than the more rigid style of Jose Mourinho. Even so, Manchester United, who want two midfielders in the upcoming transfer window, will provide an appealing alternative should City choose other options.
According to a separate report by the Daily Star Sunday, Guardiola wants to sign both Jorginho and Thiago for a combined £135million this summer. With Yaya on his way out and both Fernandinho and David Silva being 32, Guardiola is said to fancy signing the two of them with a view to the future.
