Manchester City are the champions of England, but unlike the last two Premier League triumphs, it wasn’t secured on the pitch by the Blues, but rather by Manchester United losing to West Brom at Old Trafford – something almost no one expected.
As such, post-title celebrations have been scattered, with some players going to a pub in Hale and others enjoying it in their homes.
Finally though, Pep Guardiola assembled his squad and staff to address them after their great achievement, and CityTV have uploaded it.
Guardiola congratulated everyone for being the “best in England”, saying none of it would have been possible without their “unbelievable effort”. Pep went as far as to thank the laundry staff, highlighting the collective effort that has gone into this season.
“You create something unique in the locker room, the spirit and your friendships,” Guardiola said. “It’s impossible to achieve what you have achieved if you are not good human beings, if you are not good people, if you don’t accept one another. In the end what we have done is to be better than nineteen teams.
“What has happened, personally and hopefully for you as well, will always be in my heart until the last day of my life, I’m pretty sure of that.
“What I lived, what I felt this season, it’s something amazing.”
