Manchester City have one hand on the Premier League trophy after tonight’s impressive 3-1 win over Tottenham at Wembley, which brought a three-match losing run to a timely end.
Beyond the inevitable title win though, it has been a season of records broken by the Shark Team, and more may still follow before the campaign ends.
The Blues could yet set three new records, two of which were set by rivals Chelsea, and need the following the happen in their five remaining fixtures.
– City need three wins from five to break the 95-point record, held by Chelsea (2004/05).
– City need five wins from five to break 100 points, which has never been done before.
– City need 11 goals (2.2 per game) to break the 103-goal record, held by Chelsea (2009/10).
Having found form again against Spurs, you’d bet on City setting more records before this historic season comes to an end. An exciting finale to the 2017/18 Premier League season beckons…
