Pep Guardiola will look to build on Manchester City’s domestic dominance with another push for the Champions League next season, and will bolster his squad with as many as three major signings, James Ducker of the Telegraph reports.
In a similar story to that reported by Miguel Delaney of The Independent earlier today, Ducker claims City will go ahead with January plans to sign a defensive midfielder and a wide attacker capable of playing in the middle.
City will also ‘probably’ move for another centre-back, with Tottenham defender Toby Alderweireld one of the names being monitored. A move for a centre-half may depend on whether Guardiola trusts club captain Vincent Kompany to last another full season without suffering more injury setbacks.
Julian Weigl of Borussia Dortmund, Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk, Jorginho of Napoli and Nice’s Jean-Michaël Seri are midfielders under consideration.
Eden Hazard is the dream player for the attack, but with that being unlikely, Monaco forward Thomas Lemar and Leicester City’s Riyad Mahrez are alternate options.
