Bernardo Silva congratulates Liverpool and takes dig at dodgy referee Lahoz after City’s UCL exit

Bernardo Silva was one of Manchester City’s better performmerse on a night where the Blues showed the potential to overturn Liverpool’s first leg lead after an early goal, but ultimately lacked cutting edge and were picked off by Liverpool as they desperately sought more goals.

The 23-year-old Portugal winger started life in England slowly but has improved as the season has progressed and was impressive at the Etihad.

After City’s exit from the Champions League, Bernardo took to Instagram and congratulated Liverpool on their two-legged victory. He also took a shot at dodgy Spanish referee Matheu Lahoz, who was poor over the two legs, justifying Pep Guardiola’s doubts about him.

Bernardo wrote: “Thank you all for the support and amazing atmosphere tonight! We gave everything we could so no regrets. Next year we’ll be back to try again! Congratulations to @liverpoolfc and good luck on the semi finals. Now let’s go win the premier league and end the season with a title @mancity 🔵🔵
Ps: @championsleague could you guys start using the VAR next season? It might be useful 🤔”

Hopefully Bernardo isn’t asked to ‘explain himself’ to UEFA, although little would be of surprise from that organisation…
