Manchester City held an open training session at the CFA this afternoon and two players were conspicuous by their absence.
The first noticeable absentee was centre-back John Stones, who may have had a shot of being recalled to the side after recent mishaps in defence. The 23-year-old last appeared for City in the 2-1 defeat to FC Basel over a month ago and hasn’t featured since returning from a concussion sustained on international duty.
Also missing was Brazilian full-back Danilo, who played the full 90 minutes against Manchester United at the weekend and did appear to be in some discomfort at the end, suggesting he is injured.
Everyone else trained with the likes of Sergio Aguero, Kevin De Bruyne and David Silva in contention to start. Benjamin Mendy is also awaiting his first minutes since September having been in training for a while now after recovering from a ruptured anterior cruciate ligament.
