It’s quite simple – win today and Manchester City have won the 2017-18 Premier League title, their third in seven seasons. And what a day for it to potentially happen on – derby day! Manchester City host arch-rivals Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium today and a win would set off a party in the blue half of Manchester.
United are not going to overturn City’s lead no matter what the outcome today, but Jose Mourinho would love to delay Pep Guardiola’s celebrations a little longer, and hand City a second big defeat in a few days following the loss to Liverpool.
City though, who have yet to lose two games in a row under Guardiola, will be fired up and will want to get the job done on this grandest of occasions.
Martin Atkinson is today’s referee and here are the starting lineups selected by Guardiola and Mourinho.
Manchester City XI: Ederson, Danilo, Kompany (c), Otamendi, Delph, Fernandinho, Gundogan, Bernardo, Silva, Sane, Sterling
Manchester United XI: De Gea, Valencia (c), Bailly, Smalling, Young, Matic, Pogba, Herrera, Lingard, Sanchez, Lukaku
