Manchester City forward scores injury time goal on debut for loan side

Manchester City forward Larry Kayode is looking to put a disappointing loan stint at Girona FC behind him and made a good start today, scoring on his debut for Shakhtar Donetsk.

The 24-year-old Nigerian international joined the Ukrainian giants in March, initially on loan with an option to buy him at the end of the season.

Kayode, who City recruited last summer from Austria Wien in a deal worth around £3.5million, and came with quite a reputation having found the net 17 goals last season and finishing up as the Austrian Bundesliga’s top scorer.

And while his loan move from City to Girona, which resulted in zero La Liga goals, didn’t go as planned, Kayode made a good start to life at Zorya’s Slavutych Arena stadium today as Shakhtar picked up three points on the road with a 3-0 win.

Taison and Facundo Ferreyra scored Shakhtar’s first two goals, before Kayode came on in injury time and needed barely a couple of minutes to add a third goal.
