Manchester City are trying to add a second jewel of the Paris Saint-Germain academy to their ranks but face a losing battle to lure Yacine Adli away from the French capital.
The Premier League leaders have already snatched Claudio Gomes, one of France’s best teenage talents, from the Parisiens and he will join in the summer despite being offered a €450,000 signing-on bonus to stay at PSG.
Adli, another French youth international, is also wanted by City. According to the reputable Le Parisien newspaper, City and Borussia Dortmund are the ‘most insistent’ in their attempts to poach the lanky midfielder, who bears a certain resemblance to former City youth player turned PSG regular Adrien Rabiot.
City may be unsuccessful with this pursuit though, with Le Parisien learning that Adli’s entourage have held positive talks with PSG upper management, with there being a feeling that the 17-year-old will sign his first professional contract in the coming weeks.
City have recruited quite heavily from French youth ranks in recent years, bringing in the likes of Thierry Ambrose, Olivier Ntcham and Seko Fofana from academies over there, with Claudio Gomes soon to follow. Unless of a change in the situation, it looks like Adli will opt to stay in the bright lights of Paris though.
