Liverpool midfielder Emre Can still hasn’t committed himself to joining Juventus, despite multiple reports in recent months that the Serie A champions are in pole position to sign him.
Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport claims today that the Bianconeri have been waiting to close negotiations with the 24-year-old German international for some time now, after finding an agreement with him in the autumn.
Juventus continue to hope but are wary of rival interest in Can and are beginning to look at alternatives in case, not wanting to get caught out in the transfer market.
Manchester City, Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are named as three of ‘several European clubs’ interested in acquiring Can, who will be available on a free transfer when his Liverpool deal expires in June.
Can recently irritated Kopites by implying that Liverpool are not big enough for him, saying: “I have the self-confidence to say that my qualities are sufficient to play in a very big club next season.”
Manchester City are in need of a defensive-minded midfielder this summer to replace Yaya Touré and rotate with Fernandinho in the ‘6’ role, and Can’s Premier League experience and availability on a free transfer could make him an appealing option for Pep Guardiola.
