Roma sporting director Monchi is famed for his ability to spot talent, sign them up, and increase their reputation and value. His work at Sevilla won him plaudits, leading to Serie A side Roma recruiting him last summer, and he has already shown his midas touch by signing Cengiz Ünder ahead of Manchester City, another young talent who is making waves.
And according to a report by calciomercato.com, Monchi has set his eyes on a City youngster who has been impressing while out on loan at NAC Breda, 20-year-old Spanish midfielder Manu García.

They report that Monchi has been closely monitoring García this season, and he has been arguably NAC’s best performer in his 28 appearances. The suggestion is that Manu, who has been compared to David Silva, could subsequently be on Roma’s summer shortlist of potential targets.
Pep Guardiola has ‘never taken his eyes off García’, but the problem is that City have an abundance of talented midfielders, and even local boy Phil Foden could be ahead of Manu in the pecking order, raising the question of if there is a place for the Spaniard.
García is under contract at the Etihad until 2020 so there is no urgency to decide his future, but if there is no pathway to the first team for him, a sizable offer from Roma may tempt City into a sale – particularly if they can include a buy-back clause, giving them the option of reacquiring García in future.
For now, García is focused on helping NAC Breda avoid relegation along with his fellow Man City loanees Pablo Marí, Angeliño, Thierry Ambrose, Paolo Fernandes and Thomas Agyepong, but the skillful playmaker appears destined for bigger things than relegation dogfights in the Eredivisie.
