Liverpool are expected to be without England international Joe Gomez for their upcoming Champions League double header against Manchester City after the 20-year-old sustained an ankle injury on international duty.
Gomez hobbled off just 10 minutes into England’s friendly against the Netherlands on Friday and according to ESPN FC faces up to a month on the sidelines.
It’s not all doom and gloom for Liverpool though, with Nathaniel Clyne almost ready to return from a back injury, and he may be forced back into action sooner than expected by Jurgen Klopp to fill a void that Leroy Sané will be looking to exploit.
Gomez has been one of Liverpool’s break-out performers this season, making 29 appearances in all competitions, compared to just 3 appearances last season.
City travel to Anfield on 4 April before hosting their Premier League rivals six days later at the Etihad Stadium, with a place in the Champions League semi-finals up for grabs.
