Argentina’s national team are currently enjoying the hospitality of Manchester City’s elite City Football Academy facilities ahead of their prestige friendly against Italy this evening.
And quite curiously, as the likes of Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero are in Manchester, City boss Pep Guardiola is in… Argentina!
Pep was spotted in Buenos Aires on Thursday after a group of youngsters took a selfie with the famed Catalan in it.
Guardiola is not there on City business but to visit the former head coach of FC Barcelona, César Luis Menotti, who was in charge of Pep’s former club between 1983 and 1984.
Menotti is establishing a coaching school in Nordelta, Buenos Aires, and Pep Guardiola is reported to have met with him, perhaps to lend his support and expertise. Pep is known to be an enthusiast of youth football and it has even been suggested he could move into that category at some point in the future.
It’ll soon be back to work for Guardiola once the international break concludes and he will look to steer the Blues through a tricky set of fixtures coming up that includes the Liverpool double header, Manchester United at the Etihad Stadium, and Tottenham at Wembley Stadium.
