Manchester City face losing Dutch under-19 winger Javairô Dilrosun when his contract expires in the summer, with Benfica making a push to sign him, Portugal’s O Jogo reports.
The 19-year-old is highly thought of at the Etihad but has been linked with a move away for several months now.
Dilrosun faces the near impossible task of breaking into Pep Guardiola’s first team plans, with the likes of Bernardo Silva, Leroy Sané and Raheem Sterling occupying the flanks, Brahim Diaz an option from the youth ranks, and speculation that another winger could arrive in the summer.
This has alerted some notable clubs in Europe, with RB Leipzig, Borussia Dortmund, Liverpool, Juventus and Valencia all registering an interest in the teenager.
Portuguese giants Benfica have now arrived on the scene and O Jogo claims that Dilrosun was in Lisbon last week to hear their proposal for him to join them when his City contract expires in the summer.
Dilrosun is said to be ‘studying’ Benfica’s proposal after rejecting a new offer to remain at Manchester City having not seen a clear pathway into Guardiola’s star-studded team.
He has yet to make a final decision, particularly given the likes of Liverpool, Dortmund and Juventus are keen, but Benfica’s history of developing young talent gives them a fighting chance of acquiring him when he departs the Etihad Stadium in the summer.
