Guardiola’s current deal runs until 2019 and naturally club bosses are keen to extend it, especially after the fantastic work Pep has done this season, with a domestic double almost guaranteed now and City having one foot in the Champions League quarter finals.
The 47-year-old is eager to prolong his stay at the Etihad Stadium, but conditions must be clarified with his agent Orobitg, and that process will start tomorrow. The representative will meet two of his old acquaintances, Txiki Begiristain (sporting director) and Ferran Soriano (chief executive), and hold talks either side of City’s game with FC Basel.
It was recently claimed by the Daily Mail that Pep would sign a new deal up until the end of the 2020/21 season, worth approximately £20million-a-year, and the arrival of Orobitg means a renewal is a step closer, something every City fan will surely be delighted to hear.
Guardiola has won 72 of his 101 games in charge of City, an impressive 71% win rate in a league commonly considered the most competitive in the world. His Manchester City side remain 16 points clear at the top of the Premier League with nine games to go.
