Pep Guardiola’s agent is coming to town on Wednesday to discuss a contract renewal – music to the ears of all City fans.

Guardiola had some injury updates in his pre-Basel presser at lunchtime, with Mendy continuing to train.

Silva’s absence is personal and he’ll be back later this week.

John Stones could be in line for a start tomorrow after dropping down the pecking order a bit lately. Guardiola still rates the young defender highly though.

During his part of the presser, Ilkay Gundogan was asked about playing in Fernandinho’s role and his response was typically professional.

FC Basel will be playing for little more than pride on Wednesday night at the Etihad Stadium after being battered in the first leg. Their coach and striker both complimented City at their own press conference today.

Imagine City won the league on derby day. Just imagine. It’s not the most likely scenario as things stand, but the GMP are getting ready just in case.

Jon Moss will be the referee for City’s trip to Stoke next Monday night.

City won’t have to wait much longer to learn if they face any punishment over the signing of Benjamin Garré.

City have been continuing to cash in on former youth player Denis Suárez and Barcelona are apparently fed up of paying clauses, so have sidelined him lately.

That’s it for today. Keep your eyes peeled on @City_Watch and the site, day and night, as we work to deliver the latest City news, views, and other high-quality content.
