Manchester City will have a familiar European referee on Wednesday night when they host FC Basel in the Champions League, with Czech official Pavel Královec put in charge.
City already have one foot in the quarter finals after destroying Basel 4-0 in the reverse fixture in Switzerland, but must professionally see out the Round of 16 tie at the Etihad this week.
And in Královec they have a referee who City have fared well under, going all the way back to 2009. His record with City is 3 wins and 2 draws, including the epic comeback against Bayern Munich in 2014:
– 2-2 draw with FC Copenhagen (2009)
– 3-0 win over Aris Thessaloniki (2011)
– 2-1 win over Villarreal (2011)
– 1-1 draw with Borussia Dortmund (2012)
– 3-2 win over Bayern Munich (2014)
Pep Guardiola is expected to rotate his team heavily ahead of the weekend game with Stoke, as it would take a miracle for Basel to overturn the first leg result.
