Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk have announced the signing of Manchester City striker Olarenwaju “Larry” Kayode on loan until the end of the 2017/18 season.

The 24-year-old is finally out of limbo after a deadline day loan move from City to Ligue 1 side Amiens collapsed, meaning he couldn’t play for Girona, his previous loan club, Amiens, or Manchester City.
Shakhtar have also announced that they have an option to buy the Nigerian international, a £3.5million signing from Austria Wien last summer, for an undisclosed amount.
The obvious question that springs to mind with this transfer will be – does it confirm that City have struck a deal with Shakhtar for midfield target Fred with Kayode used as a sweetener?
In a report earlier today, ESPN FC said Kayode had been offered to Shakhtar as City look to close a deal for Fred, who is Pep Guardiola’s top target to reinforce the ‘No 6’ role currently monopolised by Fernandinho when fit.
