Leroy Sané has dismissed a report by the Telegraph that Pep Guardiola furiously tore into him at half-time in FA Cup defeat to Wigan.
In an interview with BBC Football Focus, which will air in full on Saturday from 12.00 GMT on BBC One, Sané said it “isn’t true” that Guardiola had a go at him, and that his half-time substitution was purely tactical.
“What the newspaper – I don’t know who was saying this – but that he [Pep] was saying that isn’t true,” said the German winger.
“The reason I went out [subbed] was a tactical thing. Anything else stays in the dressing room.”
On the general topic of Guardiola, Leroy spoke glowingly: “He’s a really good coach. He’s done a really good job with us.
“I’m really happy and the other players are also really happy that we have him as a coach, because everyone can see we improve a lot with him.”
