We hear very little about what goes on in Pep Guardiola’s dressing room at Manchester City, and will have to wait for the eagerly anticipated Amazon Prime documentary series to get a closer look at this special team.
However, a new report by James Ducker of the Telegraph has revealed just how Guardiola responds to what he considers a lack of effort.
Ducker says Manchester City stars were ‘stunned’ as an irate Guardiola ‘tore into’ Leroy Sané after an insipid first half display against Wigan Athletic in the FA Cup fifth round clash last week.
Pep accused Leroy of failing to work hard enough for the team and follow instructions, with one source claiming his outburst could be heard in the corridor outside the dressing room.
An angry Guardiola then hauled Sané off at half-time and replaced him with Kyle Walker, but City would still go on to exit the FA Cup in one of the big upsets of 2018 to date.
Sané’s work ethic has often been questioned by City fans on social media, with the young winger often blowing hot and cold. Guardiola will certainly know what he is capable of and how good he can become, which probably contributed to how angry he was.
The 22-year-old German wasn’t dropped despite his performance, playing 77 minutes in the Carabao Cup final against before being replaced by the returning Gabriel Jesus.
