Eliaquim Mangala‘s loan spell at Everton, which so far has consisted of just two Premier League appearances, could be all but over if fears of ligament damage prove to be true.
The 26-year-old swapped the Etihad for Goodison Park on deadline day in January, one of the final deals of a busy transfer window, and had a horror debut for The Toffees in their 5-1 thrashing at the hands of Arsenal.
He then lasted 45 minutes in Everton’s next game against Crystal Palace before going off injured, and according to the Daily Mail, there are fears that he may have sustained ligament damage.
Depending on the severity of the damage, he could potentially play again for Sam Allardyce’s team after a spell out, but the worst case scenario is the French international not returning until the start of next season at earliest.
Mangala is under contract at City until June 2019 and has no future at City with Pep Guardiola not a big fan and recently breaking the club record to sign Aymeric Laporte, demoting Mangala to fifth-choice centre-back when everyone is fit.
