Manchester City goalkeeper Joe Hart could find himself playing for a top Premier League side again next season, with Chelsea reportedly lining him up as a replacement for Thibaut Courtois – should the Belgian leave for Real Madrid.
Hart has lost his spot to Adrián at West Ham and there were suggestions in January of his loan being cancelled so he could find regular football ahead of the 2018 World Cup.
However, the 30-year-old will stay at the London Stadium until the summer, at which point his Man City contract will have just a year left to run.
And according to The Sun, Chelsea have earmarked the experienced title-winner as a primary option to step in for Courtois, who Chelsea fear will see out his contract or move to Real Madrid. The Spanish giants are planning a lavish overhaul of their underachieving squad in the summer, and that includes a new goalkeeper.
Hart has made 14 appearances for West Ham in the Premier League this season, but after a 4-0 defeat to Everton in late November, lost his spot and has since only appeared in cup ties.
With his contract winding down, City would not stand in his way were Chelsea to make an approach, with the player unsuited to Pep Guardiola’s style of football and having no way back at the Etihad Stadium.
