Double injury blow for Burnley ahead of Manchester City game

Burnley will be without two of their star players when Premier League leaders Manchester City visit Turf Moor tomorrow lunchtime.

In addition to Belgium international Steven Defour, who could be out for the season, the Clarets will be without their star centre-back James Tarkowski who Sean Dyche has ruled out through injury.

Tarkowski, who played in the reverse fixture at the Etihad but missed January’s FA Cup tie between the two sides, will be perhaps be the biggest miss for a side that relies on its defensive resoluteness.

Burnley have conceded just 13 goals at Turf Moor this season, which to put into perspective, is only 4 more goals than City have let in at the Etihad.

The Blues face a challenging game tomorrow against a compact unit that has made Pep Guardiola’s team fight for a result twice this season. Burnley have lost just 3 of their 13 home games in the 2017-18 campaign and a win for City tomorrow would take them one step closer to the league title.
