Dutch centre-back confirms he has signed a 4 ½ year deal with Manchester City

Neither club has announced it yet, but Dutch under-20 international defender Philippe Sandler has confirmed that he is now a Manchester City player after multiple reports of a €3million (£2.6million) deal.

The highly-rated 20-year-old has joined City from Eredivisie side PEC Zwolle on a long-term deal and immediately returned to the MAC³PARK Stadion on loan for the rest of the campaign.

“I’m going to finish the season on loan at Zwolle, so my head is with PEC.” Sandler said.

The youngster, who was subject to interest from PSV and a failed bid from AZ, became aware of City’s interest last week.

“I stayed very calm. I didn’t read too many things, but I’m very happy.”

The long-term plan for him is unclear, with the immediate focus being on him finishing the season at PEC.

“It depends on how I’m going to do in the next six months, but we have to wait, no agreements have been made about my future.”
