Pictured: Manchester City representatives leave La Liga offices after paying Laporte release clause

Manchester City have triggered the €65million (£57million) release clause of Athletic Bilbao centre-back Aymeric Laporte in recent minutes, with a representative of the club caught leaving La Liga offices by El Chiringuito TV.

With the payment presumably validated by the LFP, Laporte is no longer an Athletic Bilbao player and will sign his new contract with Manchester City. The LFP will now communicate the news to Athletic that the 23-year-old is no longer their player.

Local journalist Nika Cuenca has also tweeted, saying “Laporte is a Manchester City player”.

And further confirmation from ElDesmarque Bizkaia that City have paid Laporte’s clause.

Laporte has already passed his medical, local source El Correo reported today, and should be in the stands to watch his new team when Manchester City host West Brom on Wednesday.
