Manchester City to play Wigan Athletic away in FA Cup fifth round

Manchester City will meet Wigan Athletic away in the FA Cup fifth round, after the draw took place tonight.

City overcame a physical Cardiff City on Sunday in South Wales thanks to first half goals from Kevin De Bruyne and Raheem Sterling, booking passage to the next stage of England’s most historic cup competition.

Next up is Wigan, who have a recent FA Cup hoodoo over the Blues. In the 2013 cup final, in what turned out to be Roberto Mancini’s final game in charge, calamity struck as Wigan pulled off a huge upset at Wembley to beat City.

Pep Guardiola’s men have a chance to avenge those two losses, with fifth round ties scheduled to be played on Saturday 17 February 2018, although numerous will be moved for television broadcasting.
