Manchester City representatives en route to LFP offices to pay Aymeric Laporte release clause – report

Manchester City representatives are currently en route to LFP (Liga de Fútbol Profesional) offices to deposit the €65million (£57million) release clause of Aymeric Laporte.

According to information from Nika Cuenca, a well-respected and reliable Bilbao-based journalist, City will pay Laporte’s release clause before 2pm local time (1pm UK time). At the time of writing, they are traveling to the governing body’s office.

Once the payment is validated, Laporte will cease to be an Athletic Bilbao player and will sign his new contract with Manchester City. The LFP will communicate the news to Athletic that the 23-year-old is no longer their player.

The player has already passed his medical, another local source El Correo reported today, and should be in the stands to watch his new team when Manchester City host West Brom on Wednesday.

To celebrate Nicolas Otamendi’s new deal, the City Store has released these new tees!
