Any attempt by Manchester City to sign Chelsea superstar Eden Hazard in the summer transfer window will be in vain, Matt Law of the Telegraph reports.
Simon Mullock of the Sunday Mirror reported that the 27-year-old is Pep Guardiola’s number one target for the summer, with City willing to smash the British transfer record by handing over £150million, and Sam Lee of Goal later confirmed there was some interest.
However, even a world record-shattering fee in excess of £200million wouldn’t tempt the reigning champions to sell to City, Matt Law reports.
Hazard has yet to agree to a new contract at Stamford Bridge amid interest from Real Madrid, who would like to sign the Belgian as part of what will be an expensive summer makeover for the struggling European giants.
But while Chelsea may ultimately be powerless if Real Madrid make a huge bid for their prized asset, they will refuse to sell him to a domestic rival for any amount of money.
City have yet to make a bid for Hazard and it was reported on Sunday that any move for him would be dependent on his contract stalemate with Chelsea running into the summer window.
