Manchester City have signed USA midfielder Mix Diskerud from partner club New York City FC, according to sportswear giant Umbro.
Delighted to report the news that @MixDiskerud will further be cementing his relationship with Umbro in our hometown, as he proudly continues his footballing development with a 4,5y Manchester City FC contract. (1/3) pic.twitter.com/JEYJdjoTPZ

The 27-year-old has signed a 4 ½ year contract with the Premier League club, it is claimed.
Mix said: “This is a great opportunity for me. I’m very eager to be a part of people and organizations that constantly strive to bring our sport, values and gear to new levels.
“Manchester City is probably the best football club in the world, and Umbro design the best cleats, and not only for me. Both are historic brands looking to shape the future of our sport.”
Neither club has confirmed this deal yet, and for a sportswear company to reveal it is unusual. Should it be confirmed, the likelihood is that City will loan him out and potentially sell him on for profit in future – as they did when they imported Aaron Mooy from Melbourne City and sent him to Huddersfield.
Diskerud was one of the big non-designated player names signed by NYCFC when the team was formed by the City Football Group, but lost his place in Patrick Vieira’s side and has been on loan at IFK Göteborg in Sweden.
5:30PM UPDATE: Some further details from Jack Gaughan of the Daily Mail on this deal.
Mix Diskerud. City have taken over his contract after NYC deal ended. Being allowed to use CFA facilities while he finds a new club but won't be training with the first team. Championship loan beckons?
