French giants Paris Saint-Germain have identified Pep Guardiola as the man they want to lead their ambitious project, which now features the likes of Neymar and Kylian Mbappé.
According to the back page of Saturday’s Mirror, the Parisiens believe they will eventually be able to lure the Manchester City boss away from England to the French capital.
Pep currently has 16 months left on a £15million-a-year deal and City plan to extend his contract and keep him for as long as they can, with talks planned for the summer.
PSG will face an uphill battle to entice Guardiola away from the City project, not only because of the exciting team he is building, but because the club is packed with allies of the City manager, including chief executive Ferran Soriano and director of football Txiki Begiristain.
Because of the delicate political situation between the nations of their owners, City and PSG are unlikely to directly do business, and the Ligue 1 side’sw only way of getting Guardiola would be to convince him not to extend his City deal and see out his contract.
City are currently attempting to lure one of PSG’s greatest hopes, young midfielder Claudio Gomes, away from Parc des Princes, by dealing directly with his representatives rather than his club.
