Manchester United appear to have sacked their entire scouting department and are instead just checking on who neighbours Manchester City are after.
United are poised to land long-term Blues target Alexis Sanchez after offering him £500,000-a-week, a figure City wouldn’t match when the Premier League’s best player, Kevin De Bruyne, will be earning around half of that when he signs a new deal.
The Reds are also keen on another extensively scouted City target, Brazilian midfielder Fred of Shakhtar Donetsk, so much so that City are considering bringing forward a deal to January for the 24-year-old and loaning him back.
And another midfield target, Jean-Michaël Seri, who has been linked with an Etihad switch going back several months, is now also being coveted by Jose Mourinho.
According to Ed Aarons of The Guardian, a journalist with links to Seri’s camp, Pep Guardiola hopes to add the 26-year-old to his squad this summer after positive talks were held with his representatives.
But here they come again… with United now ready to rival City for the signing of Seri, an Ivory Coast international and one of the best ball-playing midfielders in Ligue 1.

Whether City are truly after both Fred and Seri is a good question. Yaya Touré is off in the summer, meaning a holding midfielder is a must, but Fernandinho, who turns 33 this year, is close to signing a contract extension, which would give City two options for one position, assuming Fred or Seri would be targeted for the ‘No. 6’ role as appears to be the case with plenty of options already for the more advanced midfield positions.
