Premier League duo Manchester City and Liverpool are showing considerable interest in Ukraine’s best emerging young goalkeeper, Andriy Lunin, according to Mundo Deportivo.
The 18-year-old plays for FC Zorya Luhansk in the Ukrainian Premier League and is unlikely to stay there much longer, with interest growing after his impressive performances.
Despite the interest of prestigious English clubs, the teenage shot-stopper prefers another option – and could become indirectly linked to another Manchester City transfer.
Lunin is said to favour a move to Spain La Liga side Real Sociedad have started negotiating a deal for him, aware of the fact that goalkeeper Gero Rulli could be playing his final season at the Anoeta.
Rulli was previously owned by City and the Blues will have a second opportunity to use their €14million (£12.4million) buy-back clause on Argentine in the summer, which they could opt to trigger to bring him in as a back-up choice to Ederson or sell on for profit, with Napoli known to be admirers.
Unless City or Liverpool can sell Lunin on their project quickly, a La Liga move appears almost certain for a player considered to be perhaps Eastern Europe’s most promising.
