Odds on West Brom captain Jonny Evans joining Manchester City tumbled on Tuesday night with suggestions that a transfer could be imminent.
Bookmakers Sky Bet slashed odds from 2/1 this morning to 1/10 by 8.30pm, while William Hill pulled their market after a flurry of bets. At other bookies, Evans’ odds also fell to 1/4 and similar odds, an indication that a lot of money is being piled on.
While bookmakers’ odds aren’t always a guarantee of anything, they have regularly proven to be a sign that a deal is close – a similar thing happened with Kyle Walker back in the summer.
Earlier today, Mark Ogden of ESPN FC reported that City had made a renewed move to sign the former Manchester United centre-back, and if tonight’s movement in the odds is anything to go by, a deal to take him to the Etihad could be close.
