Manchester City are trying to push through a deal to sign highly-rated France under-18 midfielder Claudio Gomes, RMC Sport reports.
Gomes is considered one of Paris Saint-Germain’s most promising academy players and they are desperate to hold on to him, but the player is very interested by City’s offer and could move.
First linked with City back in November, Gomes has a lucrative offer on the table from City and Pep Guardiola himself is said to have been involved, contacting Gomes to praise the quality of City’s training facilities and presenting a project that could take the youngster to the Premier League.
Gomes and his entourage are so interested by City’s offer, they have verbally agreed not to negotiate with any other club.
PSG are not letting the 17-year-old go without a fight though, and hope to convince him to stay by offering him some playing time with the first team next season.
Gomes is one of PSG’s biggest prospects of recent times and their loss would be Manchester City’s gain – something the Parisiens are all too aware of as they make a desperate attempt to stop him from swapping Parc des Princes for the Etihad Stadium.
