Following up on previous reports from Foot Mercato and Le Parisien, French newspaper L’Equipe has today added weight to claims that Manchester City are getting serious about signing Nice midfielder Jean-Michaël Seri.
The Ivorian is one of Ligue 1’s best midfielders and was a whisker away from joining Barcelona last summer before a deal collapsed. And the 26-year-old is now looking for a new club to spend his prime years at.

Today’s article by L’Equipe is another that claims City met with the player’s agent recently and held concrete discussions about the possibility of a deal for Seri.
Paris Saint-Germain also want the pass master, but are unwilling to pay more than €25million for him, while it is suggested that City could pay up to €40million (£35.5million).
City are said to be ‘hesitant’ about one thing – whether to buy Seri in January or wait until the summer when the player’s compatriot Yaya Touré departs the Etihad Stadium.
Shakhtar’s Brazilian international Fred, 24, has also been linked with a move to the Etihad in the past day, with the Manchester Evening News stating on Friday that the Blues have relayed their intention to pay £45million for the player.
With Fernandinho going nowhere, it would seem only one of Seri or Fred would arrive, replacing Touré who is out of contract in June. And the latest reports point to City having these two names at the top of their list to reinforce the ‘number 6’ role.
