Family members of Arsenal star and Manchester City target Alexis Sanchez have arrived in London and believe a transfer is close, Chris Wheatley of Goal reports.
City’s pursuit of Sanchez has been complicated by the fact that they are unwilling to pay more than £20million for the Chilean, coupled with the entry of Manchester United into the race for the 29-year-old.
However, it is understood that his heart is still set on a reunion with Pep Guardiola and despite City making it clear that they are willing to walk away from a deal this month, they still have hope that Alexis will be a Blue by the end of January.
And with Leonardo Cornacini of Elenko Sports – an agency representing Bordeaux talent Malcom, the player Arsenal are said to want to replace Alexis – in London, things seem to be happening.
That is backed up by the new report from Goal that Sanchez’s older brother Humberto arrived at Heathrow Airport on Saturday with other family members, who expect their relative to depart the Emirates Stadium very soon.
Arsene Wenger confirmed on Friday that Alexis will leave, although the question is still when and where to.
“It looks like Sanchez will not extend his contract,” Wenger said in his press conference leading into Arsenal’s trip to Bournemouth on Sunday.
