Catch up on all of today’s Manchester City news with our City Summary!

Once again, Alexis Sanchez has dominated headlines today. We had well-informed Chilean journo Maks Cárdenas on the City Watch Podcast this morning to update us about where the Alexis deal stands. The situation has evolved since, but it’s still a very informative listen!

As the day went on, City briefed the press with information that they were prepared to abandon their January pursuit of Sanchez over the financial demands, despite the looming threat of Manchester United being interested. This saga may not be over yet, though…

The incredible Pep Guardiola made history today, becoming the first coach to win the Premier League Manager of the Month award four times in a row.

In his pre-Liverpool presser, Pep revealed that Vincent Kompany will not make the weekend game. However, Gabriel Jesus is set to return in the next two or three weeks, a major boost especially if a deal for Alexis doesn’t materialise.

It was later revealed that David Silva is back again and should also be ready to play at Anfield.

Manchester City have relayed their intentions to Shakhtar Donetsk to sign Brazil midfielder Fred, it is reported.

A possible alternate to Fred could be Ivorian midfielder Jean Seri, who appears to have been offered to the Premier League leaders, with a meeting held last week.

21-year-old Colombian winger Marlos Moreno is swapping Girona for Rio de Janeiro, with the City-owned player flying into Brazil to join Flamengo on loan for the year tomorrow.

Another player possibly leaving Girona after joining on loan from City is Larry Kayode. Only Pablo Maffeo has enjoyed much success of the five loanees at the partner club this season.

As expected, young Isaac Buckley-Ricketts has joined Oxford United on loan after cutting short his stay at Twente.

That’s it for today. Keep your eyes peeled on @City_Watch and the site, day and night, as we work to deliver the latest City news, views, and other high-quality content.
